Pregnancy and birth is a transformational time in life, and I'm here to support you every step of the way.

I'm Charlotte, a highly trained and experienced Doula and Hypnobirthing Antenatal Teacher, based in Leeds, West Yorkshire supporting parents-to-be since 2021.

I'm passionate about supporting you with the evidence-based information, tangible skills and nurturing support you need to feel confident and empowered for birth. I offer birth and postnatal doula support alongside group and private one-to-one hypnobirthing courses, helping my clients prepare for and during birth at home birth, in hospital and Caesarean birth.

I believe that you can have an empowering and positive birth experience - whatever that means to you - in any birth location (home and hospital). Ultimately, I care how you feel about your birth, however you birth your baby.

Positive Birth Leeds offers group and one-to-one hypnobirthing antenatal courses in-person in Leeds, or online, run by a fully insured and FEDANT (Federation of Antenatal Educators) accredited Doula and Hypnobirthing Teacher (me!). My support and courses are rated 5 stars on Google and have also received 2025 Mumbler Recommended Antenatal Provider status (THANK YOU to my wonderful clients for nominating me for this).

For Hypnobirthing courses, secure your space on a group Hypnobirthing course with just a £50 deposit. You can start the course whenever feels best for you, within the 2nd or 3rd trimester works well.

For private one-to-one hypnobirthing, I have limited slots available if you prefer bespoke courses in the comfort of your own home or online.

But seriously, 'due dates' are not 'expiration' dates, they are GUESSTIMATES. 95% of babies are NOT born on their 'due date'.

There are actually multiple benefits to waiting for labour to start spontaneously, including, but not limited to:
🧠 In the last days / hours of pregnancy, brain and lung changes happen in baby to prepare them for the known stresses of birth and to adapt to breathing air.

💚 Hormone changes in your body increase pain relieving pathways in your spinal cord and your brain's capacity to release pain killing beta-endorphins - meaning waiting for spontaneous labour makes it more comfortable.

I get it! Every day at the end of pregnancy feels like it’s own marathon. 😬

Things that can help navigating this time:

📆 Remembering “due dates” are BS 🐮💩 is SUPER IMPORTANT and EMPOWERING 💪!!

☺️ Practice PATIENCE - easier said than done I know, but you won’t be pregnant forever and the more relaxed you are, the more likely baby will make an appearance.

🥰 RELAX and boost your OXYTOCIN - the birth Super Hormone that gets labour started and progressing!

🫶 Trust your INSTINCT - if all feels well, great, if something feels “off” trust that too and speak to your maternity team.

🎂 Your baby WILL be born on their BIRTHDAY 🎉

SEASONAL PSA: UNDERSTANDING CERVICAL DILATION ✌️

As 'fun' as the intention might be, whether its carved pumpkins, Easter eggs or Christmas baubles depicting the dilation size of your cervix. I want you to know, it’s kind of irrelevant. And a little alarmist IMO.

🔮 Your cervix isn’t a crystal ball, knowing how dilated it is or isn’t, doesn’t tell you when your baby is going to be born. It tells you what is happening in your cervix at the EXACT moment an internal / vaginal examination is completed.

❗️IMPORTANT! Your cervix can open (dilate) AND close depending on the hormones circulating your body, this is driven by multiple factors. Things that can influence your hormones are your emotional state e.g. feeling relaxed or fearful, your birth environment, feeling safe and supported (or not)…

❌ Cervical dilation should NEVER be used as a gate keeping tool to access maternity care / a birthing location / pain relief or comfort measure.

💚 Things that can help if YOU want to know how dilated your cervix is:

🤔 Think about how you will feel about the number given to you, will it encourage or discourage you. Use this information to help you make a decision that is right for you.

🧘‍♀️ Use RELAXATION and BREATHING tools, knowing how soft and open your cervix is will require an internal / vaginal examination which can be uncomfortable so being as relaxed as possible will always help.

🤓 Use the BRAIN decision tool to work out what feels best for you: Benefits, Risks, Alternatives, Instinct, Nothing

💚 It is possible to birth your baby without being told how dilated your cervix is.
